The 2011 edition of the FINA Swimming World
Championships Long Course has just come to its end in the beautiful city of
Shanghai on last Sunday, August 31. The next edition will take place in
Barcelona, in 2013, beyond the exciting appointment with the London 2012 Olympic
Games.
Once again, in China, swimming has offered a fantastic and emotional
show to its fans all-over the world, with the Arena Elite Team swimmers and
National Federations playing, as usual, a protagonists’ role. In fact, swimmers
wearing Arena suits have won an outstanding
38% of all individual medals
(45 out of 120, pool swimming + open water). The detail of the 45
arena medals is the following:
·
14 Gold
(33% of total
individual medals)
·
15 Silver
(39% of total individual medals)
·
16 Bronze
(40% of total individual medals)
During a week of tough and exciting races, 12
among the 2011 World Champions have been counting on their Arena technical
equipment to grab the highest level of the podium:
Men
· Cesar Cielo Filho (Brazil – 50m freestyle
and 50m butterfly)
· Alexander Dale
Oen (Norway – 100m breaststroke)
·
Daniel Gyurta (Hungary – 200m breaststroke)
· Thomas Lurz (Germany –
5km open water)
· Petar Stoychev
(Bulgaria – 25km open water)
Women
· Therese Alshammar (Sweden – 50m freestyle)
· Inge Dekker (Netherlands
– 50m butterfly)
· Lotte Friis
(Denmark – 1500m freestyle)
·
Aliaksandra Herasimenia (Belarus – 100m freestyle)
· Swann Oberson (Switzerland – 5km
open water)
· Rebecca Soni
(USA – 100m and 200m breaststroke)
·
Anastasia Zueva (Russia – 50m backstroke)
It is worth to be underlined that the presence and
visibility of the Arena brand on the pool deck has been extremely high, also
thanks to the many swimmers who have freely chosen to wear our suits despite not
being contractually bound to our brand. Some of them have finally contributed to
the Arena medal count (e.g. Matt Targett, from Australia, silver medal in the
50m butterfly and Tyler McGill, from USA, bronze medal in the 100m
butterfly).
The World Championships in Shanghai have been
intensively covered by the media world-wide. We are confident that the great
exposure of the Arena brand on the deck, as well as the outstanding results
achieved by the Arena swimmers, will give a massive contribution to the
continuous build-up of the brand image, further strengthening our key role of
authentic, technical and highly performing brand dedicated to swimming and
fulfilling the needs of all swimmers and swim-lovers:
if it works for the
champions, it’ll work for me!
